ABOUT KEE DUNNING
LICENSED CLINICAL PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR
Kee Dunning is a licensed clinical professional counselor, consultant and owner of Dunning Counseling and Consulting in Billings, MT. She attended Eastern Montana College which later became Montana State University Billings. Kee earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Education and Social Political Science in 1982 and went on to earn a Master’s of Science in Education, Professional Counseling from MSU-B in 1995, and Master’s of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies in 1998.
As a mental health counselor, Kee sees clients across the life span with a special interest in working with children and their families. As a consultant, Kee works with local agencies like the Tumbleweed Program. Tumbleweed is a non-profit organization in Billings, MT focused on helping children and young adults at risk for homelessness. Kee works with both the youth and employees of the agency to improve access and outcomes for some of the most vulnerable individuals in her community.
Kee’s professional career as a counselor has taken her on a unique path, working with diverse at-risk populations including the Montana State Women’s Prison and the Youth In-Patient Psychiatric Unit at the Billings Clinic. She has also served as a school counselor at the Billings Catholic Schools, an Adjunct Professor at Montana State University Billings, a clinical supervisor/consultant at Parents Lets Unite for Kids (PLUK) and is currently the clinical supervisor at Tumbleweed.
Kee has found herself back in academia, regularly educating counseling students, nursing students, and nurse practitioner students on the “Kee Concepts” of communication. Kee is committed to her community and always “leaving things better than she found them”. As such, Kee has served as a member on multiple community boards and has spent countless hours volunteering with youth related activities in the Billings Area.
Kee’s work was highlighted in the documentary, Hiding in Plain Sight: Youth Mental Illness produced by Ken Burns.
